The Broccoli Premium Crop, 'Brassica oleracea', has large, firm dark green heads with small buds.
Harvest the heads when buds are tight, just before they open into yellow flowers.
Broccoli prefers rich, moist, well drained soil with lots of organic matter.
Soil PH should be very slightly acid to neutral.
Late summer planting is recommended in warm summer areas or short spring areas.
