The third work day was Saturday, May 10th. A lot of people turned out today. And it seems everyone is ready to plant! Here's the crew installing the water system. Each plot has it's own faucet. (Click any of the pictures to view the bigger picture)
Here's what went into the ground.
Water, beautiful water!
The second work day was Sunday, May 4th. Tentatively there is another work day scheduled for Saturday, May 10th at 1PM. This assumes we have a drip system to install. In between rain storms, the fence was completed (with the exception of a few pickets). The plots were staked out and raked, along with digging out the walk ways. You can click on any of the pictures and get an even bigger picture.
Here's the site with each plot sectioned off. Almost all of the plots have been paid for.
One last picture showing the plots with the rows dug out.
The first work day was Sunday, April 27th. We broke ground on the community garden site. Here's what the site looked like at 11AM. You can click on any of the pictures to get an even bigger picture.
Still early in the day, here's Wendy ready to go with the rental rototiller. Needless to say, this piece of equipment got a workout today.
Mark, Kimberly, and Janet (along with Daniel) doing the necessary work. Mark and Kimberly were hard at work digging out the elm tree "suckers". Janet dug out the old cement.
David and Hilary in the foreground working on the picket fence.
Giving the old rototiller a break. Wendy and Mark made numerous trips to Edwards. Edwards graciously donated 4 yards of compost. In the background is the land owner, Rich, helping unload the trailer full of compost.
Here's a picture later in the day with the frame in place. Home Depot donated the posts and 2x4's.
The lovely pickets going up.
More pickets. David and Lila continue. In case you haven't noticed, David is the one who took charge of the fence project.
Here I am, seven hours later, still rototilling.
One last picture.
Many thanks to everyone who helped today. The next work is scheduled for Sunday, May 4th at 1PM. (Don't worry - this will be an easier day on the body.) For more information, please contact me using the contact page. Hope to see you there!
Winter 2003 Here's some pictures taken this winter. Click on the links for bigger pictures. Many thanks to the owners of this property ... this wouldn't be possible without them!!!
