For organic disease control, try the following: test your treatments, start early in the morning, don't apply treatments in windy or wet weather, treat only when the weather is cool, make sure you are covered up.
One way to get rid of lingering weeds in a newly prepared garden is to "solarize" them. Cover the area with clear plastic and let the sun do the work. This works best in hot climates.

Chinch bugs love grass. Small and nasty smelling, these 1/5 inch long bugs will do a job on your lawn. You can keep these obnoxious bugs away by aerating your lawn, removing thatch, and watering and fertilizing your lawn.
Corn earworms are ugly caterpillars that start chewing on corn stalks as soon as they pop out of the ground. You can minimize the damage these bugs wreak by sprinkling ground lime on corn ears once the silk appears.
