The National Garden

Corn earworms are ugly caterpillars that start chewing on corn stalks as soon as they pop out of the ground.  You can minimize the damage these bugs wreak by sprinkling ground lime on corn ears once the silk appears.

Harlequin bugs are smelly bugs that pierce the tissue of plants and suck the fluids.  Keeping your garden clear of debris and using crop covers is a preventative measure. If you find these bugs, spray with a soapy water solution.
