Culture of Iris;G87-833-Ahe iris is one of the most popular and beautiful of the garden flowers. With the range in plant type, size, and adaption, there is an iris for almost any location. More than 200 species of iris have been found in the wild. From these species thousands of varieties have been named and made available. Plant size ranges from about 6 inches in the miniatures to more than 3 feet in the large types. Flowers can be 1 or 2 inches across or up to 8 to 10 inches across. Flowers are available in all colors.

Ladybugs are found in the US, mostly in the western states of Nevada and California. These 1/2 inch long beetles feed on whiteflies, mealybugs, scales, and aphids. Keep ladybugs around by spraying a little sugar water on a few leaves.
Praying Mantises live throughout most of the US and Canada. The "patient predators" will eat flies, leafhoppers, caterpillars, and aphids. These garden friendly insect predators sometimes will munch on the other good guys - like bees and wasps.

Spiders are the perfect creature for your healthy garden. The web building and carb spiders will eat just about anything, including flies, caterpillars, and aphids. You'll want to have asters, petunias, or sweet allysum around to get these creatures to visit your garden.
Chinch bugs love grass. Small and nasty smelling, these 1/5 inch long bugs will do a job on your lawn. You can keep these obnoxious bugs away by aerating your lawn, removing thatch, and watering and fertilizing your lawn.
