The Texas Red Oak develops a rather typical shape and form for the species, with a dense rounded canopy. The Texas red oak may also be found as a multi-trunked specimen in the wild. The Texas Red Oak, 'Quercus buckleyi' is also known as Spanish Oak, Spotted Oak, Red Oak, and Rock Oak. They are moderately fast growing for a hard wood tree. This medium sized tree may achieve a height of 30 feet or more and an equal spread. The bark is thick with scaly ridges separated by deep, dark fissures.
